A fearless 13 year old dancer stood on the art gallery floor while I created this Degas-style work. As little Madelyn, a New Jersey native, worked hard to hold the pose, she inspired me and clay flew fast. What began as a short demonstration turned into so much more. Madelyn looked sweet and innocent in her red tutu, simultaneously exuding an underlying strength and cleverness that resulted in this little sculpture with a confidant stance. We captured each others' hearts in only three hours. It was a magical and serendipitous moment.
