Imaginary Realism - Bissell, Bruvel, Merriam, Rote An examination of Imaginary Realism through the eyes of internationally celebrated artists: Robert Bissell, Gil Bruvel, Daniel Merriam and Adam Rote. July 17 - August 5, 2010
Opening Exhibition Saturday, July 17, 2010 5:30 to 8:30 PM with Robert Bissell and Daniel Merriam in attendance.
"Regardless of personal beliefs or definitions of religion, Magic Realism seems to be a deeply spiritual art form in that it asks essential questions about existence, and, as I have said, thinks about what is "real" right before our very eyes...into this landscape comes Campbell's idea that an "object becomes aesthetically significant when it becomes metaphysically significant" - that is, when the landscape interacts with our deepest ideas of truth and being to give us an experience of "eternity right here and now." which according to Campbell, "is the function of life."
We, of course, find these moments of Truth in other arenas, but it seems to me it is the special providence of Magic Realism to remind the everyday seeker that the timeless and the eternal are within reach, and to inspire us to "awe," which, in the end, is what Joseph Campbell says, "moves us forward." - Gil Bruvel July 17 – August 5, 2010

Art and Winemaker's Weekend Pairing fine art and fine wine, Chloe Fine Arts exhibits paintings by Robert Bissell, Darrell Hill, Dario Campanile, Donna Young, James Scoppettone, James C. Leonard, Amy Nelder, Aldo Luongo, Yankel Ginzburg, Daniel Merriam, Jean Moiras, and Mark Gaskin with wines from Buena Vista and Atlas Peak winery.
The gallery hosts a private event on Saturday June 12: Art and Winemaker's Dinner. This will be a sublime five-course experience for an intimate group of Chloe Fine Arts collectors, featuring the pairing of gourmet food and wine with art - a festival for the senses in the spectacular setting of an exhibition of original paintings and sculpture with each course presented over a succession of pairings.
Art will be revealed and curated over the course of this phenomenal first annual event to remember. A sommelier from the Buena Vista Carneros Winery will discuss the pairings of food and wine with each course.
Chloe Fine Arts' President Greg Lejnieks will illuminate the paintings and sculpture as revealed, and curate the pairing of the visual palette with the sweet and savory ones. Greg has curated shows and sold art in the United States, Canada, Europe, Japan, and Thailand and counts among his collectors the Rockefeller family, the Eastwood family and the Richard Manoogian Art Collection.
Fresh, innovative food courses will be customized for us by the talented and much-awarded San Francisco Private Chef Pelle Nilssen of Norway. Chef Pelle's accomplishments include past Executive Chef positions at restaurants such as the famously delicious Chez Paul in Maui as well as cooking for King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden.
Sunday, June 13 onward the exhibit will be availablefor public viewing with a look at featured wines.
"This event gives us the opportunity to entertain our clients in a condensed atmosphere that explores the complexity of the artwork on exhibit with an equally complex wine industry that is such an important part of our region," offers Greg Lejnieks. June 12 – July 12, 2010
